Right Eye of Oedipus

Fabric, wooden chopstick, thread

This piece represents Oedipus’s stabbed-out eyes from Greek mythology, focusing on the moment of his tragic self-blinding. In high school, I first learned about the Oedipus Complex and had to recreate the story for an assignment. The concept of the Grotesque brought me back to this project, shaping how I understand the Grotesque today. My goal was to bring life to the unseen body parts we are not usually aware of, recreating the abandoned stuffed rabbit from the childhood.
